Grandpa Vincents Funeral

Cory's sweet Grandpa Lee Vincent passes away on September 8 2013. He was more like a dad to Cory than a  Grandpa and Cory looked up to him in so many ways. He was his best friend.
Grandpa had a stroke in April and he just wasn't getting better. They moved him to a care center and then he came home. On the Tuesday before he died he had a gran mal seizure and they took him to the hospital. They found he had a tumor on his brain and that it was progressing fast. They moved grandpa to a care center where they made him comfortable for the next few days. We went to visit as much as we could and Cayman drew him this great  picture to hang up in his room.  The kids really loved great grandpa Vincent  as they saw him almost every week.
I love this picture of Cayman and Grandpa.
Here the kids are visiting him in the care center in April.
Grandpa would play the organ and the kids loved to sit by him and listen to him play.
Sadly, he wasn't getting better and he passed away on Sunday morning.  We had the viewing on Wednesday night and the funeral Thursday. Cory was asked to speak and he did such a great talk. There wasn't a dry eye in there. It was a sad week for us and he will be missed so much by so many. He was a great man. The funeral home put a Utah sticker on the hearse. Grandpa was a very big Utah Fan!

At the graveside service they handed out bells and pictures of Grandpa to the grandkids and great grand kids.
Here is Grandma and the kids. Connie, Cindy Steve, Grandma, Carlene, Stan, And Christi
Cory and Cj by the casket. It was so pretty.
 At the luncheon afterwards.
Family picture towards the end and most had left.
Cory's Coworker sent him this beautiful arrangement with Utah on it. We love it. The funeral was so pretty and everything went so nicely. A great man has left this earth and we can't wait to see him again!

Utah game and kid stuff.

We have used the pool as long as we could before it started to get cold. Here we are one last time swimming!

Cayman lost another tooth recently that makes 4 total now. She is toothless on the top missing 2 front teeth. I made this cute Tooth pillow for her with help from Grandma Connie sewing it.

We bought the kids new bikes and helmets. They love them.

We took the kids bowling on a Friday and they loved it.
Cory took the kids to a Utah game that was at noon on a Saturday. It was really hot outside and the kids were dying. They only lasted until halftime and then came home.
Cooper started his 2nd school Orchard Elementary. He looks so handsome and grown up.
This is how we find Cooper most nights. He sneaks into Caymans room and falls asleep.

Camping in Vernal

We went up camping to Steinaker park over Labor day to camping. We asked Connie to go with us and we had a blast. It was very hot but the kids found their spot in the dirt digging while we set up camp. It was a nice spot but not much shade.
We made tinfoil dinners and they were yummy!
After dinner we went exploring and found a fun place to play.
There was a lake that we hiked down into and tried not to loose our shoes in the deep mud. It looked dry until you took a step and sunk super deep. It was funny.

 Pretty view.
Of course whats a lake without throwing rocks into it.

That night we told ghost stories and the kids did spooky faces.

We headed to the Dinosaur museum in Vernal first thing when we woke up. It was a pretty cool museum but I think ours in Ogden was way better. The kids had fun exploring.

We headed to Fantasy Canyon after looking at the dinosaurs. It was a pretty neat canyon of rocks that people have looked at decided that there are sculptures in them.
This rock below is of a boxing bear. Cory Is trying to point it out. Its pretty clear.

Did some hiking and enjoyed the beauty.
After the fantasy canyon we headed up to see the fossils of dinosaurs on the rocks. We went to the Quarry Exhibit hall and  it was awesome. We were able to go inside this building and see the fossil embedded inside this rock they had dug and excavated. It was really neat.

This ended our second day of fun. We had a huge hike of 1.5 miles down the trail in blazing heat and no water. We were beet red and so hot!! We left to find some icecream to cool off with and then we  had dinner which we did in the dutch oven of Lemon pepper chicken and potatoes. It was yummy.
The next morning it started to rain and we were soaked and muddy. We tried as best we could to clean up camp, but it was hard folding up tents and putting stuff in the car. Not fun. We headed out for home and stopped to see some amazing petroglyphs at McConkie ranch. It was a pretty good hike over rocks, climbing a mountain, over sticks and in the heat. We had a great time and saw some great sights.

This mountain has Remember the Maine on it handwritten with a hand drawn flag. If you want to know more about this click on the highlighted part.
Here is a closer image. It was really neat to see something like this on such a huge mountain.

It was  great camping trip and a good way to end the summer.
