We left Tuesday afternoon and settled in for a long 12 hour drive. I was unsure of how I would handle this trip with my surgery, but I didn't want to miss it.
Day 1
Our first stop was the salt flats. We walked out and let the kids grab some rock salt to put in a baggie. Back on the road we just kept driving. We stopped and ate in Reno at Chilis and then headed to Santa Cruz. We got there pretty late and unpacked and went to bed.
Day 2
The next morning we got ready to hit the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We stopped on the beach first to kill some time and played in the sand. It was pretty nice weather and the kids liked hiking on the rocks.
The Aquarium was huge! We watched the penguin feeding and the kids got to touch a few starfish and a batray. It was neat. It was a very nice aquarium and had some amazing exhibits. We watched a fish feeding and saw huge turtles and a shark.
We went to lunch at a Mexican Restaurant and sat by the window to watch the ocean. It was yummy. Our next stop was the boardwalk. Our plan was to let the kids ride all the rides and spend the rest of the day there, but it closed at 5 and only 7 rides were open. We had only an hour and a half to play. The kids had fun riding the rides and Cooper loved his car ride. He did that over and over. Cayman had fun on some bigger rides with Cory.We then played on the beach for awhile.
After that we found a place for dinner and called it a day.
